Dr. Fred Goodwin

The former director of the National Institute of Mental Health, Dr. Goodwin is Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Center on Neuroscience, Medical Progress, and Society at the George Washington University Medical Center, as well as host of The Infinite Mind. The author of more than 400 scientific publications, Dr. Goodwin is the co-author with Kay Jamison, Ph.D., of Manic-Depressive Illness, the first psychiatric text to win the Best Medical Book Award from the Association of American Publishers. One of the most-frequently cited scientists in the world, he has received numerous honors and awards for both his scientific research and his efforts to educate the public regarding mental illness.










 
John Hockenberry

Currently a correspondent for Dateline NBC, John Hockenberry joined the show after a 15-year career in broadcast journalism at both National Public Radio and ABC News. The author of Moving Violations: War Zones, Wheelchairs and Declarations of Independence, Mr. Hockenberry’s weekly commentaries have been heard on The Infinite Mind since the show’s inception in March 1998. In addition to his broadcast work, Mr. Hockenberry has written for the New York Times, the New Yorker, and the Washington Post, among other publications, and he has twice been honored with the George Foster Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting.
