Fountain House holds a singular place in the global mental health community. Fountain House was the first psycho-social clubhouse in the world, and created the "clubhouse model" upon which more than 300 centers are now based.

The Fountain House clubhouse model stresses a cooperative, egalitarian environment where staff and members share responsibility and work side-by-side on both the common and critical tasks that keep the center operating.
